Warner Robins City Council approved the fiscal 2014 budget at Monday’s regular City Council meeting. The nearly $38.5 million general fund budget includes no tax increases and a 3-percent payroll adjustment for city employees. In order to balance the budget, $1.7 million from the water and sewer fund and $1.6 million from the natural gas fund was transferred to the general fund. Also, $450,000 from the Tourist Allocation Board was transferred to the general fund. The budget was approved by council unanimously.

A Wilkinson County court Monday issued a continuance in the case of a former Wilkinson County High School teacher accused of molesting a student in January. 29-year-old Cornelius Dante Jones is accused of having the then 15-year-old victim perform a sexual act on him in a classroom at the school. Jones has been charged with aggravated child molestation and sexual assault on a person in custody. Fred Bright, district attorney for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, said he expects the case to go to jury trial in December. A second teacher, 43-year-old Rodney Hunter, was accused of inappropriate behavior with the same student. He pleaded guilty June 10 to three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation, a $2,000 fine and surrendered his teaching license.

Warner Robins Police spent Monday at several city gas stations as part of an alleged illegal gambling investigation. The stations in question were the Sunoco on Green Street, just west of North Davis Drive, Bi-Lo Mart on the corner of Houston Road and Green Street and the Gulf gas station North Davis and Ignico Drives. Police spokeswoman Tabitaha Pugh said police were conducting a commercial gambling operation but said no other information would be provided at this time.

A second suspect has been arrested in the death of an Atlanta man whose body was found in Dodge County. 25-year-old Printess Stanley, of Cochran, is being held in the Bleckley Law Enforcement Center. The body of 33-year-old Dazmon Sanders was found June 10 on Cook Road in Dodge County. 18-year-old Magic Fuller, of Cochran, was arrested Friday in Bleckley County. Sanders, originally from Cochran, was reported missing June 9. Authorities believe robbery to be the motive for the killing. The case is still under investigation by the GBI and the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office.

A man who pleaded guilty, but mentally disabled, in the 2011 death of a Centerville woman says he wants to rescind his guilty plea. As part of his plea deal, 23-year-old Justin Grable agreed to testify against his co-defendant, Alexandria Renee Scott, who allegedly fired the shot that killed 38-year old Kimberly McKenzie. Grable says he felt coerced into making his guilty plea. A hearing will be scheduled to determine whether his plea can be withdrawn. At this time no date has been set. Grable and Scott are accused of carjacking McKenzie on Jan 26, 2011.

Warner Robins police are investigating an incident in which two men were shot early Saturday morning. Police responded to a motel on Watson Blvd after a report of shots fired and a large crowd fighting in the parking lot. 18-year-old Davarea Sandifer and 17-year-old Shaquez Jackson were shot by an unknown person and taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia with non-life threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old wanted in connection with the death of a man whose body was found last week in Dodge County was arrested late last week. Magic Fuller was apprehended Friday in Bleckley County. The identity of the dead man has not been released. A spokeswoman for the Bleckley Sheriff’s Office said further details would be released this week.

Centerville's first-term Mayor John Harley announced Thursday he is running for re-election. Harley is a licensed auctioneer and an Air Force retiree. He formerly served as inspector general at Robins Air Force Base. Harley formerly served for two years as city administrator in Centerville. Harley made the announcement in front of City Hall before about 20 supporters. As of right now Harley is running unopposed.

The Bleckley County sheriff has issued a BOLO alert for 18-year-old Magic Fuller. Fuller is wanted in connection with the murder of a man from the Atlanta area. The victims body was found Monday in Dodge County. Fuller is 6-foot-1, 150 pounds. He has removable gold plate teeth and tattoos.He also goes by the name Deonte Fuller. Fuller should be considered armed and dangerous. A second suspect in the killing is already in custody, but his name has also not been released.
